QA AUTOMATION CASE STUDY · PLAYWRIGHT + ZEPHYR5 days → 4 hours.

How Solus automated release testing with Jira, Zephyr Scale and Playwright — so every base-code upgrade is verified in an afternoon instead of a week.

THE SHORT ANSWER

The result, in one paragraph.

Solus automated a client’s release testing with Playwright, Jira and Zephyr Scale. Production testing after each base-code upgrade fell from 5 days to 4 hours, sandbox validation from 5 days to 2, and release cycles became 70% faster. Failed test steps now create Jira defects automatically, visible to every stakeholder.
THE CHALLENGE

Every upgrade meant a week of manual testing.

Base-code upgrades required up to five days of manual testing to confirm stability across environments. Test cases lived outside the delivery process, defects were logged by hand, and the QA team had little time left for strategic work.

The goal: automate the test scripts, connect them to Jira, and give the QA team real-time insight into system health after every upgrade.

QUESTIONS WE HEAR

Quick answers.

Which tools did Solus use?

Playwright for automated tests, Zephyr Scale for test management, and Jira for defects and traceability, connected to the delivery pipeline.

What changed for the QA team?

Automated execution freed QA engineers from days of manual regression testing for strategic work, with faster feedback in every sprint.

Could the same approach work for us?

If you run regular base-code upgrades or releases with manual regression testing, yes. Start with a QA assessment to size the gain.
